Lynne:

HIPAA mandates the NCPDP Retail Pharmacy electronic transactions between
pharmacists and payers for eligibility, claims and remittance advices.
We had previously discussed including NCPDP transactions in our plans,
but had been dissuaded from doing so; see
http://www.mail-archive.com/routing@wedi.org/msg00556.html.

I'll echo Chris Feahr: "Perhaps you could provide the group an overall
description of the envelope structure and message transport mechanisms
used in the NCPDP system." Some of the hesitance to venture into NCPDP
may simply be due to ignorance on our part, considering most of us are
X12 types! Maybe there's no problem at all integrating NCPDP's needs -
on a first-class basis - within our Healthcare CPP Registry.

NCPDP has created a task group to assist in the routing registry
endeavor. As the task group is made up of business and technical folks
in the pharmacy industry, is there a primer document or something they
can read to come up to speed with the work being done? thank you
