Google "Michael Jennings RPM %clean" quickly finds one (of several) threads I remember: http://www.spinics.net/lists/rpm/msg05401.html As you can quickly see, the issue or removing %clean caused quite some discussion 4 years ago. My original implementaion was even older. What's been implemented was what was requested by many who have years of experience using RPM. Having gone through not only the implementation, but also the adjustments, I _REALL_Y like not to go back and repeat Yet Another discussion. Nor am I interested in being trolled with @rpm5.org is incompatible. SO I most definitely wish to see #ifdef RPM_VENDOR_MANDRIVA rather than having to wait *another* 4 years for "forward" progress. If you wish to move faster, -DRPM_VENDOR_MANDRIVA=1 and do whatever you choose. I'm tired of being a proxy Fascist and being blamed for Incompatibilities! WHat is implemented == what was requested. MY private opinion is that %clean is useless fluff, just like BuildRoot is. Sadly, "legacy compatibility" at the syntax level largely means parsing and ignoring ancient car wrecks from last century. Which (afaik) is _ALREADY_ in place, but I can/will test the next chance I get to actually use rpmbuild. 73 de Jeff______________________________________________________________________ RPM Package Manager http://rpm5.org Developer Communication List rpm-devel@rpm5.org
