Ah, I see that this is with external tools/elfdeps.c which has no way to pass a 
file color and so Yet Another Mechanism is being invented.

I'd suggest that compatibility with the internal rpm elf dependency generator 
is perhaps more important than compatibility with Debian multiarch platform 
naming.

Even something as simple as prefixing the returned requirename string with an 
optional numeric bit mask would be sufficient to populate dependency colors.

You can always attach a Debian multiarch platform string as needed to each (rpm 
provides at least 4 color bits) color bit.
