I remember one ffmpeg update that had a change in the MPEG-2 decoder that was enough to cause Kodi to crash. It was an unannounced, internal change in a minor version update.
It is strange that I am not seeing a problem. I have media of all kinds of codec types and playback streams from all sorts of sources.
