Lixia, First informally: You know what it is. Why do you need it rigorously defined? Attempting formality, something like: An exchange of messages between two or more high level (i.e. top of stack, ultimate consumer of packet) entities that involves synchronized state information. A session is distinguishable from a transaction (no synchronized state) and a one-way stream (not an "exchange").
