I would suggest, to make it clear to all users, to
- either remove the reload command
- either add a warning. For exemple "WARNING : reload command is deprecated, you
must restart $0"

I agree that having reload just exit is wrong. I think it's mandatory for some
distros to have the reload command, the fact that it exits with 3 is returning
an error (and 3 may mean that the command is not supported for that distro), but
I agree that adding a warning output would make sense.
