*Position: DevOps Engineer (Service Transaction)* *Location: St. Louis, MO (preferred) Denver, CO (Secondary) – Onsite from day one* *Duration: 12 Months* *JOB SUMMARY* This position is within the Digital Platforms Organization’s Buyflow Services department, which supports the front end applications and edge services delivering the majority of the sales orders into our Fortune 100 Company. Our Service Transition Engineers play a critical role in ensuring the application support teams are set up for success as new application platforms become operational. As the Platform Development team begins the build process, these individuals are actively engaged in learning the application’s architecture, functional purpose, and all its ancillary properties (e.g., deployment pipeline, monitors), and assisting the build team wherever possible to learn by doing. In parallel, the Service Transition Engineers prepare and present training documentation to the application support teams. Once the application is launched into production, they continue to monitor incidents and changes, and assist the support teams in a consultative manner. They then take these lessons learned and apply them to future transition cycles. When they are not actively supporting a build project, Service Transition Engineers are studying the latest tools and technologies and helping the Process & Compliance team solidify their operational support documents. To succeed in these efforts, this person must be technically proficient, well spoken, possess good presentation skills, and have the desire to be a subject matter expert and a team player. *RESPONSIBILITIES* • Interviewing subject matter experts and reviewing documentation to identify the key architectural, operational, and functional elements of the application platforms. • Configuring and testing deployment pipelines. • Assisting in investigating performance, monitoring, integration, and automation issues. • Leading constructive retrospective and debriefing sessions to improve the transition process. • Auditing and performing gap analysis of operational process documentation, pulling in technical teams and SMEs and needed, including DR plans, access management policies, SDLC documents, and data flow diagrams. • Identifying opportunities for and develop automated jobs to improve application support processes. • Aiding in the development and maintenance of configuration standards and platform engineering best practices. • Hosting knowledge sharing sessions with the application support team members and their leadership. • Assisting the build team by identifying quality gaps posing risks to application security and compliance. • Reviewing configuration standards and operational runbook documentation for completion, accuracy, and value. *PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE* • 3+ years as a DevOps engineer and a total of 7+ years in application support. • 2+ years supporting applications in an AWS experience. • 2+ years supporting applications in a Linux/Unix-based, on-premises environment. • 5+ years writing automation scripts using CI tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab CI, or Bamboo.
