Hi,

I've been working on a project where the idea was to only use PC's and
embedded computers. (get away from the old standard of VME and the big bucks
for VxWorks) It turns out that there are a couple of hardware stumbling
block to using a PC based system for one of the computers that have surfaced
in the past months.

So, in order to finish up I am pretty much convinced that changing the
"central" computer to VME and replacing the hardware that is sub-par on a PC
with proven hardware is the way to proceed. I've pilfered a VME chassis and
the hardware, plus a MVME147 and it's MVME712 for my I/O. Plus, I think I
can get my hands on a VME based 486 processor card if that is easier.

I'd like to know what would be the most desirable way to proceed. I have
looked at he www.vmelinux.org page and it appears that I can get Linux on
the MVME147. But what about rtl ?? Also, would it be easier to use the 486
VME processor to get up and running. If I choose the 486 VME can I use my
Zentropix V1.0 CD to do the install?

Thanks in advance --
