Is this an embedded prototype machine or would some kind of desktop work?
I take it that the network is important since you're mailing about
gmac/bmac troubles...
I'd suggest the G4 with a tulip card dropped in there. For that matter,
the G3 you already have with a tulip card should be pretty good. PPC is
solid on the platforms we've tested - pmacs (umax supermac,
adb g3 portables - wallstreet mostly, G3, G4, pre-G3 adb machines),
RS/6000's and a few of the embedded 7xx/6xx/74xx boards.
Pmac's are cheap, common and RTLinux is solid on them - that's hard to
beat.
