Hi there.

For some time I have been playing with RTL_3.0_pre6 and
RTL_3.0_pre7 which run quite stable on a MPC8xx/FADS
(powerpc) board using kernel 2.4.0_test5.

Now, I want to run RTL on a MVME2300 (powerpc) board.
Unfortunately, I need at least linux-2.4.1 (2.4.3 would be
better) on that board.

In the mailing list archive, I found the following note by
Cort Dougan from Feb. 16th

However, I found that

linux-2.4.1:
- RTL_3.0 does not compile for 2.4.1/ppc ("disarm_decr" is not
yet implemented in 2.4.1). At least the "core" module (rtl.o)
compiles. However, it is as easy to freeze the system as with
   linux-2.4.3 (described below).

Even if "rtl.o" is successfully inserted on a quiet machine it
renders the system unstable (it will freeze eventually).

linux-2.4.3:
- it is possible to patch 2.4.3 and compile RTL_3.0 for 2.4.3.
However, RTL is very unstable - it's easy to freeze the system
while loading the (rtl) modules: e.g. "find /" while running
the rtl insertion script will do the job.

Is anyone out there using RTL_3.0 / linux-2.4.1 on a powerpc?

Regards.

Till.
