maby others ahve better experience with the Geode - would be interested to
here what others found. From the documentation and the benchmarks of the
system it does look like a hardware problem that can't easaly be resolved.
some of the prolbems:

*) it uses SMI's quite a lot
*) the video-memory is located in main memmory
*) it's FPU performance is rotten 
*) reading the system clock is slow 
...

you will see worst case scheduling jitter on an idle system of a few
hundred mycroseconds up to a few miliseconds (on my board I got 2.2 
milliseconds worst case rt-scheduling jitter on a idle system). 

if you can live with 2ms jitter then its perfectly fine - the periferals 
it provides are fine and power consumption is also quite ok - it's just
not a CPU I would recomend for general rt-usage.
