hi, thanks for all ur support , after fighting it out for a week i finally able to install rtlinux(2.2.19-rtl). i had lot of problems in installing modules in kernel(2.4.4-rtl). so i have installed the above kernel...after going through all the examples given in rtlinux directory . i throughly felt that it needs some documentaion in the source code of examples, other wise its very difficult to know what exactly the program doing.i think that will be useful for the first timers like me.
