Also, if the system crashes, it can be helpful to catch the oops message
it hopefully generates. Best done via a serial kernel console,
alternatively via netconsole.

Maybe there is an IRQ conflict between the rt2500 and some Linux driver.
Check the IRQ number it uses and compare it to /proc/interrupts. The
RTnet driver should detect and report spurious IRQs, but I'm not sure if
RTAI handles this properly.
