Would it be possible to implement the SERCOS III protocol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SERCOS_III) in RTnet? There is a non-OS specific, LGPL licensed SERCOS III library available called COSEMA (http://sourceforge.net/projects/cosema/) originally developed by Bosch that might be useful.
