The data sheet issued when the kits were produced provides some prototype information, including: 11000-series and 22000-series double-door cars built 1940 & 1942, 1450 cars total 19000-series single-door cars built 1941, 500 cars total The patterns for Sunshine's HO resin kits were probably made by Frank Hodina, who supplies a prolific output for Sunshine's benefit (and the benefit of HO modelers). If anyone out there is thinking about developing their own skills so they can develop master patterns for S-scale resin kits, you could do worse than to emulate Mr. Hodina. He is always in attendance at the Prototype Modelers Seminar which is held in Naperville, Illinois every year in late October, and he is very easy to talk to about his techniques.
