I have one, and will photograph it it later tonight. It does scale 
very well compared to the Hartoy trucks, and is about 8'6" wide at 
the widest point of the cab.

As to the rarity, if you search on EBAY right now for "1948 GMC 
Matchbox" you will find one fire truck, two dump trucks, two Coca 
Cola bottle trucks and two van bodies one Coke, on Jim Beam). Most 
list the size as 1/43 - maybe the bodies are, but the cab is much 
too small for that.
