Wally and friends,  
     I think you might be off by a decade or so.  In the fifth or sixth 
grade, I was able to buy my first subscription to Model Trains magazine 
($2.50 per year I think).  The first issue describes the recent activity 
in S and mentions a new organization called the NASG and the original 
Herald in memo form.
     I joined and became a member of AF#6 (whatever that means).  Claude 
wrote many of the early letters and sent along a bunch of mimeographed 
forms that were so bad they were illegible, as Wally says.  Ah those 
were the days.
