Fred, a few new items were not covered in the above discussion about
new equipment.
Des Plaines Hobbies came out with the coal porters, (Johnstown
hoppers) a few years ago. They are presently in BNSF or SF red and
silver.
I believe other roads are on the way.
He (DPH) also has the Evans double door box car.
SHS was mentioned.
Kaslo in Canada is coming out with large Cylindrical hoppers.
In the loco diesel dept, American Models SD 60's are about the most
modern EMDs you will come across at lower prices. At higher prices,
Overland SD40-2, SD 50/60, GP 38-2's in brass probably can be bought
from private collectors.
What is your definition of modern? It depends on where you draw the
line in the sand. If you want "modern" locos you will have to accept
ones modeled that are 30 years old.
Contact me off line if you want to persue this farther. Happy
Holidays, thanks, Jerry Smith Arnold, Md at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
