Dear Robyn,
That was my wife's Robin and my company, Train Stuff. The patterns
for the 60' waffle side car was made by Stan Stokrocki. Some of the
decals by Bob Ristow. I think we made about 100 of these. The LPG was
part of a series of tank cars. Dick Lind made the pattern of the
hi-pressure dome and the lettering was made for us by CDS. We also made
a 50' Railbox and several other 50' boxcars. A 52'6" thrall gondola in
both Soo Line and The Rock. We cast the sides in polystyrene, which is
much more brittle than ureathane (which was not available at that time
for making models). We sold the business in 1982 to Wayne and Diane
Pier. Wayne made stuff from the 30's and stopped after they moved a few
years later.
The article was co-ordinated by Sam Powell with about a half dozen
other contributors. Most of the images were from Bob Werre and Vic
Roseman. The article was based on a display at the NASG joint
convention with the NMRA/MER called RailCon in 1979. I was the NASG
promotions chairman and both were part of our committees doings.
