Roy..... If'n ya can't get enough new product announcements to keep the column filled to the brim, why not do some old product re-announcements? While to us they might be old, to others in different scales, they might be new news. At least it helps to spread the S word, so to speak.
S show and convention events listings seems like a good idea since it encourages potential S modelers to obtain more information and see things in person. Not wanting to be negative (who me?), it seems that the DISPATCH and the S GAUGIAN already do S club news which is redundant to the max. Does it really make sense to have a third publication with the same information? (Remember, you asked for comments.) Here is an interesting bit of history regarding the difficulty in getting new product announcements: many decades ago, I and/or the NASG (don't remember which) offered to receive text/photos with a new S product announcement and then make copies and mail the announcement and photos out to every single model RR publication at no cost to the manufacturer. The theory being that it takes a lot of time and some anount of cost to reach all the mags. Not a single manufacturer ever sent in a new product announcement to be resent out to all the magazines. This is not a complaint, but just a fact. Sounds like not much has changed in the past 30 years or so. Call me dubious.....Ed L. --- In [email protected], "Roy Hoffman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi Folks, > > The August S-Curves column in Model Railroad News will mark a major > shift in emphasis from a product driven approach to a more general > discussion of S scale.
