Following slow progress in track laying I discovered that pushing up
to 12 cars over an insulated gap, then a frog then into a 30" radius
curve leading to a 3.5% curving grade several cars jumped the track
consistantly.
Exhaustive research showed the cars jumped the track at the gap with
Atlas insulated rail joiners. Further observation revealed that all
my cars AM, SHS and PRS ran through the gap o.k. But SHS rebuilt
boxcars, (3) all jumped the track. Regauging didn't help. However
when I loosen the screws on the trucks to allow them to rock up and
down more, the cars then successfully stayed on track. Just thought I
would pass this along. Maybe the pigeon toeing previously mentioned
was a factor, however the up and down rocking is evidently the cure.
