I do have to note however that your web guy made a mistake in calling
the 2-10-2's "decapods". A decapod is a 2-10-0. I believe 2-10-2's were
called "Santa Fe type".
Bud Rindfleisch
Did the SP actually call 2-10-2's Decapods? I only know this as a Santa
Fe and they are so listed in my SP books.
Don
The SP called their 2-10-2s Decs (not decopods)
Lee
I believe that the term was "Decks".
~ John
they could not bear to call one of their class Santa Fe (which is what a
2-10-2 officially is). Lee

Gents...The mighty NYC had no confusion at all regarding what to call
their large steamers. They were all named after rivers -- Hudson,
Niagara, Mohawk -- since this was, after all, the Water Level Route.
Logical, eh? Cheers...Ed L.
