Yes, and in 1951, I was in an Army "PUP" tent on a very hot afternoon, packed
for going overseas, when my Buddies were listening to the Giants - Dodgers
game. That's when Bobby Thompson hit the HOME RUN heard round the world!
.... "Bobby Thomson hit a game-deciding, three-run home run off of Ralph Branca
in the three-game playoff with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1951. A famous radio
call of the event was made by Russ Hodges: "The Giants win the pennant! The
Giants win the pennant!"
