Hi,
Just came home from a very enjoyable 1 day S "scale" only gathering
at the home of Jack and Sharron Sudimak in Medina, Ohio. A fairly large
group of modelers were in attendance to run, show, discuss, and share
ideas and fellowship thanks to our gracious hosts.
Side visits to the nearby scale layouts of Al Clapp and Bob Yahnke
were also enjoyed. The weather was perfect for the outdoor bar-b-que put
on by the hosts and their helpers John and his wife Pat Henning, and
Jerry and his wife Pat Diamond, and all the others who chipped in. It
was a worthwhile 4 hour drive for my wife and I.
I got to meet some of the guys I converse with via e-mail on the S
scale lists and had a chance to run an abbreviated Lackawanna passenger
train. To my surprise though, an old Kinsman Renkens' milk reefer I had
built 35 yrs ago with the soft metal rigid sideframe Nimco trucks which
until saturday had hardly been run at all, ran flawlessly for a couple
hours. The aluminum Miller wheelsets were re-gauged awhile back but
never really tested in actual service.
A few others brought along in progress models and some great ideas
to share.
It sounds like this will turn into a repeat meet in the coming years.
                                                             Thanks
much, guys!
                                                             Bud Rindfleisch
