OO is 4mm to the foot. 4mm.= approx .156” to a foot or 1/76 of full size. S
is 3/16” to a foot., or 1/64th of full size. See chart below. There are some
other scales used because, for example, O gauge comes out to be 5’ track
gauge using the figures below. This is corrected by some who use 17/64” per
foot and 1 ¼” track gauge or .250”/foot and 1 3/16 track gauge. Also, HO is
sometimes called 1/87 scale and sometimes 3.5mm to the foot.

For this chart I used the value 1mm. = 0.0394”. This is in Courier type and
should reproduce the chart correctly.

Gauge inch/foot Scale

HO 0.1379 1/87.01958

OO 0.1576 1/76.14213

S 0.187564 1/64

O 0.25 1/48

Subject: {S-Scale List} OO scale

Hi all:
Is OO basically S gauge? I'm sure this has been answered but searching
might be a morass for me! :-) . I have a friend in England who has
Hornby OO stored away in the attic.
tx for info
