Subject: {S-Scale List} Re: S-Scale Magazine support and S popularity

I must tune in on this.

Folks, some of our finest S scale modelers tried to publish a S Scale only
publication.
Ed Loizeaux, Dick Karnes and Billy Wade in my mind are the best, [Crème La'
Crème] and it didn't work for them either.
The first two publications had moderate success, the last one went straight
out the door.
What always astounded me was that all the S manufacturers fully supported
the magazine, most straight up to the end.
(I have one question regarding the S/Sn3 Modeling Guide? What is there to
buy?)

Roy Hoffman supports S in Model Railroad News and we do make Model
Railroader and other magazines from time to time. Thinking of Model
Railroader, I re-subscribed two years ago because I found each and every
month, it had articles that were of interest to me.

We also have an S Scale SIG that is choking to death because of the poor and
indifferent attitudes of fellow S scale modelers.

We S Scale modelers are a great bunch of people and the Yahoo S list shows
that we do support a common S Scale purpose [most times] and it has many
contributors, all with varied interest's. Our annual convention Seminars
also show excellent support.

Every morning, the first thing I do is go to the Yahoo S Scale list and read
each and every report, no matter great, or how mundane. It is always a
learning day for me. I pick up on new manufacturers, tips on building kits,
layouts and so on. I save many for my "Favorites" file. That gives me easy
access on solving a problem, if need be. Mary always asks me when I return
to the breakfast table, "What did you learn today?"

We have the S Gaugian and a very fine NASG Dispatch, both of theses rags
are well done and both support our S Scale hobby.

We also have a very fine NASG web-site, and that is supported by many, many
individual web-site's that are also excellent, one of them is rewarded by
the NASG at convention time. [Josh Seltzer Award]

Folks, I've been at this since 1962, back then we had very little.
Look at us now, what more could you want?

"S"incerely,
Bill Fraley
