Just received the January 2009 issue of Model Railroad News. On page 18
is an American Models ad for new E8 and Budd car paint schemes.

Pictured are SP Daylight, MP Eagle, and MKT/SLSF Texas Special
locomotives. SP and MP locomotives are available as AA sets separately.
Texas Special E8s are available as AA sets w/train only.

Being an MKT and MP fan I'm pretty pleased. The MP scheme is appropriate
from the late 40's to the early 1960's Jenks era all blue scheme. While
the Colorado Eagle was essentially a Budd train, the Texas Special was
built by Pullman-Standard.

The pictured MKT/SLSF Texas Special locomotive scheme was only valid for
a couple of years starting in 1948-9 period and applicable to only the
two original E7 AA sets, (one set owned by the MKT and one set owned by
the SLSF), not E8s. The "The Texas Special" script lettering was dropped
on the E7s sometime in 1950-51, but was retained on passenger cars, (at
least on the Katy), until passenger service ended in 1965. All MKT
passenger power shared a similar red, gray, and yellow paint scheme
until the late 50's when a solid red scheme was adopted. Only the
original E7s had the corrugated side panels on the locomotives.

Probably a lot more than folks like the SPF's wanted to know, however
there were Pennsy sleepers on the Texas Special and MP's Texas Eagle
throughout most of the 50's.
