Dear Michael,
This is actually not about S scale modeling and to me the tone of
your e-mail is as onerous as discussions of Religion or Politics on
our group (please delete now if you do not want to read further). I
could go on for paragraphs on why we have gone to another country to
produce The Showcase Line. Let me be brief, the cost of tooling or
injections molding is not why we had our models made by Sanda Kan. I
can narrow it down to two reasons. First is the cost of labor. The
avg. worker makes 60 to 85 cents per hour in China (no problem with
illegal aliens there). The second is experience. When started in
1981, Sanda Kan was owned by the owners of a model railroad company
(LifeLike). By the 90's. they knew had to design, decorate, assemble
and package museum quality model trains. I do not blame the current
owners (Kader Industries) for the situation that Sanda Kan currently
finds themselves. But, the Asian division of JP Morgan (not a Chinese
company), that was not interested in producing high quality model
trains, but bonuses and dividends that left the company in receiver
ship in only 4 years. I think that is enough...

PS Michael, where was your computer made that you typed your rant?
USA? I think not...
