SHS caboose trucks are double insulated, and the procedure for electrical pickup is with metal sideframes and a plastic bolster, so each set of wheels on each side has a different polarity. Seems complicated, but I've been assured the rationale is to prevent short-circuits. If that seems a bit much, AM caboose trucks are insulated for two-rail in the usual way, with one wheel in each set being insulated, the other live. It was a bit more than I'd anticipated in converting one of the SHS EV cabooses, but by then I already had the caboose, so I went ahead and order the replacement wheelsets. It works.
