Dear Peter,
Our double insulated wheelsets have plastic insulators on each
wheel, but have a metal axle. Our 00979 are insulated on only one
side, but the axle is intended for Classic AF metal sideframe trucks.
We do have a wheelset that we used for power pickup, but they are made
in two halves with the wheel and half axle as one part. We use a
plastic sleeve to hold the halves together. These require a metal
sideframe that is insulated from the bolster. These wheelsets are
available as both the code 110 #01735 and AF comp. #00664. I guess
for me the question to you is what truck sideframe and bolster you are
planning to use under your caboose.
