Further to note below, I recall reading an article in the model railroad
press within the last few years - not sure if it was the S press - in which
the subject was examined. As I recall, the Baldwin's slow speed is achieved
by a slow speed gearing which, if I recall further, it achieved very
simply. I want to say removal of one link but I am not certain and am not an
expert in these things. Assume American Models could enlighten us all.

I have four slow-speed geared and they all run wonderfully. I'm very
pleased with them! I have a few GP's as well and I'd say the same about
them.

If it is a gear switchout, I'd be interested in knowing how easy it is
to do. I can' recall offhand if the article addressed that subject.

Hi Ed,

Looking at AM's web site, only the Baldwin S12 is offered with an
alternative
low gearing, when ordered. Looking at the the spares list for the Baldwin,
only
reference is "GBWSLG -Worms for slow speed gearing - 2 needed @ $4.00
each."
Alternative gears not listed, just the standard. Could be that the "slow
speed"
worms will fit the existing gears. Not a lot to try it out!! (Plus
postage, I am
sure!) BUT would they fit the GP9??? Let us all know!!!

Best wishesDes Browne, Holywood, Co. Down"Santa Fe - All the way"

to all roads available)
