What's the stuff they de-ice planes with ?    They don't dissolve with it.

  I have not tried isopropyl alcohol for removing paint from plastic models. I 
  have tried it for other household chores, and so far haven't found anything 
it 
  removes except germs.

  That said, I strongly recommend that you abandon trhe search for 
novel/household 
  alternatives and settle on a recognized plastic model paint remover.
