Isopropyl Alcohol normally comes at a 70% strength - rubbing alcohol.  They do 
make a 91% version but usually you have to ask for it - at least in places 
around here.  

I have successfully used the 91% strength product to remove SHS (and other) 
lettering, mainly so I could re-number models.  I suppose if you rubbed long 
enough and hard enough with the higher strength alcohol, it might take off the 
paint too, but that's a guess...

I agree with Dick - use a recognized plastic model paint remover.
