    Problem with intermodal is it takes up a lot of room. The trains are long 
and the yards huge so it takes a lot of space to not look cartoonish. A modern 
shortline can fit into a much more typical layout space and the variety of cars 
can be quite interesting. Check out something like Progressive Rail in 
Minnesota or the Miami industrial scene modeled by Lance Mindheim. The present 
day NY-NJ carfloat operations( nice video of a float unloading on youtube) is 
another way to realistically model with modern S scale in a fairly small area. 
I think the space required will put a cap on the sales of S intermodal and unit 
train equipment but the varied local freight operations could provide a base of 
modelers to support these type of cars....DaveBranum
