Conrail had an auto ramp in York, PA for years, UNTIL NS took over the
operation in 1999 and had NO idea how to run it. My brother-in-law shipped
cars regularly from York until the sell-out, after NS he used tractor
trailers exclusively, less hassle.
Ironically, Conrail & then NS had/have a line thru the property where the
shipped cars originated from. Couldn't pick them up there, they had to be
driven 30 miles each to York.
