I like the concept of these messages as it DOES motivate one to get something
done.

First, many thanks to Tom Baker and Bob Nicholson for their motivational photos
of their projects. I learn form each of the achievements posted by our members.

A few weeks ago I worked on my first serious ballasting task. With guidance
and tips from Roger Nulton, I got some of the Main line and the frieght yard
ballasted and back in operations just in time for the 6 year old grandson to
operate while visiting from Washington.

This weekend had events at both ends of the spectrum. One was the tedious
chore of cleaning track. Following the info picked up from the Socal yahoo
group, I switched from using GooGone to Rubbing Alcohol to clean the track.
which then led to cleaning of the wheels on all the cars. I had accumulated a
bunch of gunk on the wheels that was just spreading itself all over the layout.
While working on the car trucks I had the chance to reflect on the great
effort that our manufacturers had put forth to provide us with well detailed
models. MANY THANKS TO OUR MANUFACTURERS !!!!!

The other task was working on my Tsumani sound decoders. I was tired of the
loud noises, found an article on tweaking CVs in January 2009 NMRA magazine,
and after downloading the spreadsheets prepared by Bob Collett (NMRA OpSig
member) I became engrossed in CVs. Still learning many details, but following
his lead, I got 2 engines sounding much better. I will probably end up calling
Soundtraxx to get some insight on motor control CVs
