Ed,

I admit, when I pulled up a list of Alaskan stations, I clicked on the Wasilla
Station, among others, because I recognized the name of the town and in this
case, I recognized the name of the town because Sarah Palin lives there and was
once mayor of this town before becoming Govenor of Alaska.

However, there are two main reasons I've decided a construct this town and
Sarah Palin is not one of them;

1st; The station bears a strong resemblance to an `S'tation Hoquat Hobbies has
in stock. While some modification will be necessary, it's not much, making
this an easy station to re-create.

2nd; There's a rail museum in Wasilla which provides an excuse for all
out-of-era equipment operating on the layout, namely "it's an excursion train
from the museum."

Also, there are several secondary reasons;

1st; The Mug Shot Saloon, located within sight of the tracks, would make a
really neat scenic addition.

2nd; The Iditarod headquarters are located there, making for another
interesting piece of scenery.

3rd (and this is a new one); There's a large patch of gravel around Wasilla
station, which leaves plenty of room for the fictional WPY tracks.

4th; Yes, Sarah Palin lives there.

So while Palin's presence in this town was a primary factor in my finding this
station, it's pretty much the least important factor in my decision to
construct it.

Plus, if I was deciding to build a town based on who had lived there, I'd build
Dixon, IL, Ventura, CA., or Leesburg, VA (the location of my favorite bunker,
"buried under the brick and steel of a non-descript buildingÂ…").
