Thanks Roger, one of the benefits of photographing various layouts is 'hanging' with the various builders and learning a bit from them--guys like Dave Jasper, Frank Titman, Jess Bennett, and yes even Roger Nulton plus a couple dozen others. All have done work that have put them just a notch or two above most of us and have caught the eye of someone in the publishing arena. It's a ton of work, in cramped spaces with limited time, but I've always thoroughly enjoyed them all. Additionally the wives often have gone the extra mile to help to make things run smoothly.

My big regret is that I never seem to get enough time to actually see them run or even operate on these layouts. Time and budgets rarely allow for that. One exception was Jess Bennett, once in setting up a shot I needed him to move a train--I figured he would run the train around the loop, but Jesse just backed up a 40 car train, double headed on a large S curve trestle like it was nothing. I think most of us would have cars scattered on the ground below!

Congratulations, Bob. I know how hard you have to work to produce an image acceptable to Kalmbach. You are the Master! S scale is one sixth of the year 2013: that should get their attention! I look forward to getting my copy of the calendar. So many positive signs for S.

Friends,

My mailman just delivered an advanced copy of Great Model Railroads 2013
Calendar. Our California based New York Central railroad made a very
nice appearance. So Ed's PA's could now be called Miss April!
