   If they want to compete for the broader market they need to follow the lead 
of the HO companies like Athearn Genesis, Exact Rail etc. who are bringing out 
new very high quality stuff and not just re-hashing the old stuff. 
  Modern modelers in the other scales have zero interest in flyer or it's 
background so the only thing that will get them to switch to S is models of the 
same quality and somewhat the selection they can get in HO. The physical size 
of S gives it an inherent ergonomic advantage but it needs the product to 
capitalize on the opportunity. The harder to make the scale change and the 
longer the wait for product the more guys will just commit or re-commit to HO 
scale. HO has a lot of size related negatives but it's still very convenient
