I had the same issue with PRR Tuscan on passenger cars coming out more brown 
than the reddish tint I was used to.  I think it has a lot to do with 
manufacturer dye lots.   My wife both knits and quilts and knows full well you 
always buy all you need at once because if you go back later to get more 
material, there is a chnage in dye lot and, while subtle, the colors are 
different.  I have no reason to believe that cannot happen with hobby paints 
too...

At one time I thought I would have to buy quarts of the two NYC gray colors so 
all my E units and passenger cars would be the same.  Then I studied prototype 
photos and decided it really didn't matter - only we hobby geeks get hung up on 
color, the 12" to the foot gauge companies just live with it, the weather does 
the rest!  Besides, the slight differences in color make the models more 
unique, not as typical!  <GRIN>
