Michael,
Tucked away in all their not-very-pro-DCC bluster was that you could operate a
a Rail Pro locomotive on someone else's DCC railroad, using the Rail Pro
controller. But one can't control your host's DCC equipment with the Rail Pro.
(As I understand it.)
But it also seems you also can't control a Rail Pro loco with a DCC controller.
And if you were to go visit someone who had only a Rail Pro system, you might
as well not bring anything to run.
Your Digitrax system doesn't care if I bring over a locomotive with a Digitrax,
QSI, Lenz, MRC or Koosbanian decoder inside. I'd still be able to run on your
railroad with your spare controller.
While putting down the "20 year old technology," Rail Pro puts down what has
made DCC a success, the interoperability of straight DC, but with bells and
whistles.
There are some interesting features in Rail Pro and if I was just staring out
with command control, I would investigate further. But in my opinion, there's
not enough to make it worth while to change over to.
