Yeah, I wanted to keep it simple for Rachael so I didn't mention building all
the track by hand. Switches make more sense to build your own as the ready made
choices are not many and cost a lot but regular track is readily available.
Building switches saves a lot over buying them but building track doesn't save
as much for the time involved. If anyone wants to build all their track with PC
ties they don't really need the fast track jig, it's easy to glue down PC ties
every 5th tie of so and just solder the rails in place using a standards gauge.
Switches can be easily built the same way once one understands the process.
Fast Tracks is great for the beginner and get's lots of folks building track
that never thought they could do it, but experienced modelers don't really need
the jigs....DaveBranum
