boB, I've had luck buying ProtoMax by lots of 20, usually under $20. I'm installing them in SHS, Am models and S Scale America (Des Plaines) and they work better than KD 802/808s. As someone said on here you can use both side holes by cutting just a bit bigger hole, starting the other side and then bearing down at a very slight angle and the other screws in. I use KD 1/4" roundhead screws. It's crazy, the KD screws cost $4.95 per dozen, so the screws cost nearly what the couplers do. I'm going to use KD 808s on my 2 Rio Grande 35s because they'll look good and can be body mounted as they should be. But...those **** springs... Last time my wife got on her hands/knees found 8 springs in the carpet. Hate those **** things.
