I have sitting before me an unbuilt PRS kit with trucks; since all the parts
are present, I'm assuming the trucks came with the kit. It's my understanding
that S Scale America took over the tooling and production of this line; also in
front of me is a pair of SSA trucks I just purchased online.
Although both truck sets are very nice, they are quite different, in both the
way the side frames are attached to the bolsters, and the SSA side frames have
raised lettering, whereas the PRS's do not. The PRS's came with plastic wheel
sets; the SSA's are metal.
My question is: if SSA took over from PRS, then why the difference? I'm simply
curious; as I stated, both sets are terrific; just different.
