Rusty,
For the record Lionel really needs to know what the scale guys want. They need
a number so they can be asured that if they do the c\scale wheels they will
have a market  for them that will offset the cost to make them. Would you jump
into something if you did not know if the market was out there. Going third
parts alwys adds to the finished product.

Subject: {S-Scale List} N&W Y3

There has been a lot of chatter on this list about the Lionel S gauge Y3 But no
mention of where to get one or the Price??? Yes, I did an internet search and
did not come up with any information. I checked Charles RO on the web and all
I found was their statement that they sell S. Not what they sell, just that
they do sell S, I guess. Lionel's online post was in march but no mention of
where or what price.

My understanding from posts on other lists that the failure rate upon delivery
has been rather high. Something like 2 out 5 made smoke where no smoke was
suppose to come from upon initial start up? (read in the OGR forums)

Another concern of mine is what is this Orange module thing that you need to
run this thing. The locomotive does not come with what ever that Orange module
thing is? What is this Legacy system and why do I need a windows computer, and
not a MAC, to program the locomotive? (read in the OGR forums)

I have a MAC and not a windows computer. That is one reason I never bought into
Loksound. I have thousands invested in NCE DCC, decoders, Soundtraxx, MAC, and
Dallee. I don't plan on spending thousands more for TMCC, Legacy (what ever
that is), Orange Modules ?, Windows OS's.

Apparently it dosen't run on DC? Or does it? I can't use a simple DC power
pack? The tender weighs more than the locomotive? I don't that this as a good
thing.

The secret 3rd party that is going to supply a scale conversion? What on earth
ever happened to Lionel who was going to take care of that minor problem. It
should be simple Take out the hi rail wheels and drop in the scale wheels,
unscrew the AF monster coupler and install the Kadee couplers, push the hidden
button for DC and GO!

Something tells me that this is going to be one of those $3000 models by the
time it gets done as a scale model and not an AF model, IF, that day ever
comes. The good thing is it looks nice, S scale size, not ugly and grossly
oversized and out of scale like the Challenger that Lionel did several years
ago.

No, I'm not going to get into a letter writing campaign to Lionel
No, I'm not going to convert to Hi rail either. I've sold off all of my Flyer.

My last of the lot is brand new unused SHS Flex track that I plan on selling
