Actually, IMHO. it worked too well for its time.  You had to brake one of the 
units by actually slowing it down like the prototype.  No control system had 
that, it meant  braking by reversing the power feed--very carefully.  I still 
miss Bob Miller, I was fortunate to visit him and his facility several times in 
the mid '60s.  The closest thing to it in the modeling world was the late John 
Allen, who used a car battery in his control system to get similar results.
