Hi Stan...
In my case, I am accepting the premise that scale wheels will soon be offered
as a separate product which can be installed by the customer into the SD70. As
far as I know, Lionel has not officially made that statement, but I have heard
it from a trusted source. So, in my case, I will keep my fingers crossed and
forge ahead.
My backup plan is to enlist the aid of a friendly machinist to make scale
wheels and press them onto the existing Lionel axles assuming that is feasible.
Again, this 'Plan B' will work for me because of three local friends each
capable of doing the work. It might not be ideal for everyone.
I hope Pieter and Bill note that I am not complaining or speculating or
debating about the Lionel product. I am merely attempting to answer Stan's
question about scale wheels and suggest a way forward that might work for
some/many scale modelers. Just trying to be helpful.
As far as I know, there is no SKU for the NYC SD70 with scale wheels at this
time. But my desire is strong and so I am willing to take a small risk.
