I was fortune that someone beat me out on eBay for a SHS Union Pacific
stockcar with the OSL reporting marks. I really want a OSL car on my layout.
I went to the STMFC group where a informed modeler told me that only the
180000 series UP boxcars carried the OSL reporting marks. Luck struck when
Jeff at Hoquat Hobbies had a PRS OSL boxcar for sale. But then I discovered
that the OSL lettering was in the 1940 white left side lettering and most
unlikely to appear in my 1953 era.
I used Jerry Glow decals stealing a OSL from the Serves all the West slogan
even though the slogan lettering is 9 scale inches high and the reporting marks
are only 8 scale inches high.
Didn't solve the problem. Turns out the OSL cars were 12 panels not 10 like
the PRS kit. Bought some Archer decals to fix that. Then noticed that the PRS
kit had Ajax brakewheels and it's just my luck that OSL was probably Equipco
and sure enough Earl Tuscon is out of stock on the Equipco brakewheels.
