Mill gondola product review:

"Mill gondolas, open-top cars for shipment of steel mill products,
have solid floors (w/o drop doors) and no interior bracing that might
interfere with the load. They are often as long as 65 feet to
accommodate lengthy beams or pipe sections and may have drop ends
to let an extra-long load overhang an adjacent idler car - this might be either
a flatcar or another drop-end gon.
Also characteristic of mill gons are the car's narrow width, to reduce overhang
clearance problems with long cars on sharp industrial
curves, and the side-mounted brake wheel needed with the drop ends."
