I once used AF electric track trips to operate a crossing gate and they worked flawlessly. Held as long as the engine was in the block drawing current thru the relay. My experience with pressure track trips comes from when I was a boy, and that's a long time ago, but I recall they were fussy to adjust. More recently I have tried out "the Detective" and it works very well as a replacement for the AF electric type. Even works with a lighted car.
